Principal Sherry Mullins

Sherry Mullins, Principal

Hi, my name is Sherry Mullins, Principal of Harmony Elementary School. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. For the most part, I grew up in Cobb and Fulton Counties. I moved to Pickens County in 1970 and started my life as a wife and mother shortly thereafter. I began working for the Pickens County School System in 1988 as a paraprofessional. In 1991, I started my college career in early childhood education. After graduating from Reinhardt College and Brenau University, in the fall of 1994, I began my teaching career. As my education level increased, so did my desire to be in administration and leadership. I earned my Master’s and my Educational Specialist degrees from Brenau University and Lincoln Memorial University, respectively. I have been in the administration field since 1998. I am now in my seventh year as a principal. I have been an administrator for three Pickens County elementary schools.

I cannot imagine a more fulfilling job than to be an elementary principal. In Pickens County, students are in elementary school from kindergarten through the fifth grade. I cherish the six years I can have with most of my students. As I learn more about them academically and socially, I can be confident in my decisions about many things within my school setting to better meet each student’s needs. For example, I can make a more informed decision about classroom placement based on their individual needs, abilities and personalities. Additionally, I can distinguish a respectful working relationship with their parents. I look forward to being at school with my students and staff everyday. I am always excited about my job. As I said, there is none better!
